I have a new crop of old students, but there are a few really-new (as in they haven’t taken a class from me before) students too. Whenever I give this blog as a resource, I’m forced to explain. “My blog, GodSongGrace, has a goofy name,” I say. “It was supposed to help me market a nonfiction book, but that book hasn’t sold. Mostly I blog all about writing with a few book reviews thrown in.”
You tell me: Should I rename this blog so the title is more representative of the content? If I did rename, would it force me to lose what recognition I have? What do you think?
Writing Tip for Today: Once you begin to build your audience it may not be easy or even wise to switch pen names or rename your blog or webpage. As you develop these “branding” tools, think it through. Are you sure you will always want to be a mystery, romance or western writer? If not, name your blog accordingly.
I’ll be away from the blog until Monday, to be with my family. Rejoin me then for more writing-related tips.
To my Christian friends: Happy joyous Easter!
