We all need God’s song and grace, but it doesn’t help if all you wanted were a few writing tips. So I researched the idea of making my blog’s title reflect more of its content. The best answer I’ve found here on Blogger is to change the name but keep the url the same so I won’t lose followers. If I want to change the url too, my followers will have to manually change the address because that’s how they find it. It’s a choice between keeping the followers I have or possibly turning off future followers. My decision is that since I anticipate writing for the Christian market for some time, I’ll consider keeping the url address but ditching the name on the blog. Anyone have a suggestion?
Writing Tip for Today: If you are working on a book, chances are you’ve had a working title in mind all along. If your project has no title, get one. Even if it’s lame. Then utilize your networking skills to find a better one. Crit partners, mentors or even friends can come up with great titles. Read book titles in your genre. Study movie titles–better yet, take a look at some famous films’ original titles. Sometimes, great titles are a play on words or a creative use of cliches. Do not expect your agent or editor to do this work for you. Part of selling your book depends on a great eye-catching title. Clare-ified Words, anyone?
linda, i generally tend to read your blog cause it’s NOT about god or song or grace and has some really awesome writing tips.. seems since you generally talk about writing that word should be somewhere in your new title.. i know you are going (eventually) for the xtian market but pigeon holing yourself before that time IMO may lose you those of us that have other belief systems… that said, i read this blog for the writing tips
Yona, I agree–lots of readers have different belief systems. That’s why I’m going to rename that banner you see at the top but for now (or until someone gives me better info) I’ll keep the url. Hope that suits you. Best, Linda
I like the new name. I suspect you’ll get more hits when someone queries “writer’s tips”.
Consider putting/ transferring the Christian writing info on a separate blog titled Godsong and linking the two blogs to each other. Best of both worlds and the reader will be able to see both aspects and choose.
