A four-week writing workshop I facilitated has ended, and I love seeing the members organizing for an ongoing critique group. “Training wheels” critique workshops are meant to help new writers learn how to give and receive useful feedback and now this year’s participants are riding on their own. They are planning where, when and how often to meet, along with logistics of how to best make progress. To the Thursday Evening Nine, I’m proud of all of you for your dedication and commitment to better writing. Those three Ps are getting a workout: Practice, Patience and Persistence will definitely give writers an edge.
Writing Tip for Today: My summer is officially started, although I will have mentorships, editing and my own writing to tend to. No more classes until Fall term–a much-needed break for me, so that I can recharge my teaching batteries. A heartfelt thanks to every student in each of the classes at LCC. I hope you’ll get as much writing done over the summer break as I hope to do. Let’s all remember that it isn’t really writing until it’s on the page. Write On, people.
