aha moment: teach and do.

A while back, I was invited to share my “aha moment” as the Mutual of Omaha made a stop in Eugene, Oregon where I live. On a whim, I went to the aha moments page and my video, “Teach and do,” was the very first one! Get a load of me, plugging my novel, The Fence My Father Built and busting the myth that “Those who can, do; and those who can’t teach (PE).”

aha moment: teach and do.

I had a really good time and wish to thank the film crew and Megan the appointment setter, for contacting me. Thanks a bunch!

  1. Jan: I think publishing is hard, period. Writers must work so hard, just as artists and musicians and dancers and actors do. But I think for starting out, when you are trying to get some credits under your belt, nonfiction can have more opportunities. Magazines and newspapers use nonfiction articles and essays more often than they do fiction.More mags and zines and papers are published than other forms. That said, knowing fictional techniques can make a nonfiction piece come to life. Most nonfiction writers and even authors are closet fictioneurs, hoping for a break. Keep studying, practicing, writing. Don’t give up. If you do these things, at some point you’re likely to publish something, somewhere. Blessed are the persistent, for they shall never give up. –Linda

  2. Well said, Linda. Your message is encouraging. Seeing you share your heart about your “baby” gives us – who are thinking about producing a “baby” of our own – inspiration.

Thanks for sharing the video with us.

  3. Hi Linda,
Janice Jensen here from your 2013 (?) LCC Community writing class . . .
Congrats on your many publishing credits! Wow . . . I’m stoked to read everything.
You taught me how to write . . . and I worked on “A Voice From the River” for Chicken Soup which was published that year!

I now finally have a memoir being published by She Writes Press titled “One Ripple at a Time.”
    I see you’re a cat person, too.
Would love to get together with you and share. My email is jcjrealestate@gmail.com
Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Warmly, Janice

I see from your images you
